13 April 2013

I know that I promised to do objectives and outcomes this time but seriously: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=88359&currentpage=1014#20274

For the uninitiated, Eve Online is a MMO sandbox universe where anything goes. People lie and cheat and nobody keeps score. A bit like a wayward Whose Line is It Anyway but in space :)

The linked article is about how one player seizes an opprtunity, takes on a monopoly and starts a trade war. But this would not have happened without 2 key elements: (1) a gap in the market design; and (2) an understanding of human behavior.

I don't believe that this is any difference in the real world.

(My first post of this blog. Trying to be disciplined and will try to treat this more systemically rather than depend on spontaneity.)

Hello readers! Welcome to Accidental Anarchist. I promise to update at least once a week to keep content fresh.

A little about this blog: this hopes to chronicle the arduous journey toward financial independence and fulfillment. And why is it named as such?

Really, this blog pays homage to a commonly held view of disruptive innovation - Startups do not start out trying to destroy companies and shareholder value.  It is therefore by accident rather than intent that incumbents collapse, bringing along with it the associated chaos in the marketplace. Thus the name Accidental Anarchist.

It is my hope that this blog keeps me focused on the long term and the important (you didn't really think that this blog was actually for you, dear readers). But at the same time, I hope that it would be of some interest to other students of business, of human nature and of this rapidly changing world.

Comments, differing views are welcome. Douches, however, are not.

Let's talk about objectives,  outcomes next.

Best regards,
AA
